Downloading Android Game ROMs

ROM images, or ROM files, are computer saving files that contain read-only data from the memory chip of a particular video game. Such files are created by players and distributed to other retro game enthusiasts via the Internet. Thus, you can search the Internet for the file of the game you want to play on your emulator. Although there are many sites claiming that their ROM collection is the best you can find on the Internet, be vigilant and only use reputable sites. Sites like Romsmani, EmuParadise, Coolrom and Royal ROMs have a wide selection of ROMs for GBA, SNES, NDS and VBA to suit every taste. So if you need good ROMs, feel free to check out the aforementioned sources.

For example, if you want to play Pokemon Leaf Green, you'll look for ROMs for that particular game online. Just type "Pokemon Leaf Green ROMs" into the search bar and use the results to download the ROMs you want. Games usually appear in long lists on the site offering ROMs. To find a game to your liking, be sure to scroll down the lists until you find the one you want. To download the game, you need to click on it. Soon after, the game will appear in your default "Downloads" folder. Getting BIOS for the emulator If you want your ROMs to work properly be sure to download the BIOS for your emulator. For example, if you purchased a VisualBoy Advance emulator, you will need to find the "VisualBoy Advance BIOS". Once you know which file you need to download, click on it and wait for the download to complete.

Launching the Emulator

The next step should be to start the emulator. Simply click on the emulator icon on your home screen and wait for the program to finish loading. Once the program is open, it will ask you to enter the downloaded BIOS file. Use the emulator to find the file you need (by default it should be saved in the Download folder of the internal memory of your device) and click on it.

There are situations when you can be asked to repeat the BIOS file search procedure one more time.

Running the ROM Game

The program will then ask you which ROM file (game) you would like to use at the moment. To find the game you want, use the file navigation tool which should also be in your Downloads folder, unless of course you have changed its location. When you find the ROM file you need, click on it.

Now you only need to master the controls and start playing your favorite retro game on Android.
