This play by Kevin Dunn runs on the expression “Run riot” in a new manner. It is based on a real life story of what happened when a bunch of youths chose to riot in London. The play is a hilarious version of what actually happens when people choose to riot. The play was produced before in the Theatre Royal and won a string of awards, such as a Globe Theatre award for Best Comedy Production. If you enjoy the comedy style of theatre, then you’ll love this production.

The roads are filled with store fronts and restaurants that are empty and they sit outside and put up stalls and start to disturb other people daily, in addition to scaring the life out of innocent passersby. One of the characters says:” It is like living in a fairy tale, what’s just happening.” That is an overused expression, but it matches the play flawlessly.

I really don’t need to give too much away, but I will say that the actors certainly steal the show. There’s such a fantastic chemistry between the entire cast that you feel as if you’re experiencing a revival of the classics, or at least, modern productions. The dynamic between the four leads is what makes Run Riot Promote Run Riot a hit amongst crowds in the UK and indeed around the world.

The musical score is fitting and catchy. There are eight songs complete, which supply the perfect mixture of musicality, and street noise. The first half of the show has the musical numbers, whilst the next half switches to a more significant setting. The whole series is a riot of colors, tones and beats. The set design is quite inventive and looks excellent. The costumes look a little odd sometimes, but this is simply surprising, considering the most important theme of the play.

The theater itself is very spacious, with a large platform, and several smaller stages throughout. The design is very tight and doesn’t allow any room for mistakes. Nonetheless, this is an advantage as opposed to a disadvantage. The technical facets of the theatre are high class. Each of the elements of this show flow together seamlessly, so that the audience can easily follow the activity.

Consequently, if you love a good play, and love seeing contemporary plays, then you need to observe the Run Riot. My verdict? Well, it is an extremely enjoyable drama, which is guaranteed to entertain. If you love street conflicts, then this may not suit your tastes, but it’s definitely worth a try!
